EUROPE AFTER PRAGUE
BULGARIA AND NATO # NATO Heads of State and Government have formally invited Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia to Accession Talks with NATO. The decision was announced at the opening session of a two-day Summit meeting in Prague, 21 and 22 November 2002. # Bulgaria was elected for two-year membership term in the UN Security Council, starting 1 January 2002. ONGOING EVENTS ANNOUNCEMENTS # Fourth programming and review cycle according to the NATO Membership Action Plan is underway. Ministry of Economy is responsible for economic issues of the Annual National Programme 2002-2003. Participation of the Ministry of Economy within the Individual Partnership Programme between NATO and Bulgaria, 2003: # NATO/EAPC/SCEPC/IPC - Industrial Planning Committee (IPC), EAPC format - Regular Meetings;
# Participation in Ad Hoc Group meetings, EAPC format. The Ad Hoc Group was set up by IPC and was given the task to prepare a special Handbook on planning models and preparedness measures implemented by EAPC countries. Bulgaria (the Ministry of Economy in compliance with his competency) was appointed to coordinate the work on a specific chapters of the Handbook;
